Vail 2007 Shootout Schedule/ Results :

Well after last years successfull first round thumping of RIP we were hoping to get an easy first round game and launch ourselves into the winners bracket on the first day.  As usual the unpredicatbility of new teams and the poor seating thanks ala Flip Naumburg we faced eventual tournament runner up Team Lax Grip.  Made up of former team Canada players and an outstanding All American Goalie from Virginia we had a first day loss of 12-3 to a team who was ranked #11 while we enjoyed our highest ranking to date at #6.  PS don't buy Rack It Pocket.

After that the tournament turned into what I would say was the most fun Vail tournament I have ever experienced in my 17 years of attending the event.  The evening shennanigans coupled with exciting games and happy hours and the best team BBQ he have ever had this is a Vail that will be hard to beat in terms of fun.  As Bluse said "We broke the fun-O-Meter on this one."  Although it would have been nice to win more games we had the best time of any team.  Ted Baruch and the Lacrosse Out Reach Foundation hosted the best BBQ at Big Horn Park where we also had exciting events of distance Boche ball, left handed boche ball, tip cup, and cowboy golf.  Ted thanks for hosting a great BBQ.

Also the addition of speed demons Josh Reichert and the unselfish play of Matt Kelsic added to the excitement of the tournament.  Even though Team 5280 is run by a number of players from Denver Public Schools there are is a surprissingly large contingent of Kent alumni.  Ah such is the diversity of lacrosse at 8000 feet.  A number of teammates enjoyed a day of white water rafting and while on the trip David Matz saw his first wild Lark Bunting!

The home base for the team was split between the Shangrila De Kurtz and our new hotel the Fall Ridge.  The fall ridge guys enjoyed senior sleep outs under the stars and were even attacked one night by random 6 foot creatures hailing from Texas A&M and a new game of dizzy bat lushes.  After the event the average Lark Bunting took about 2.5 days to fully recover and is a good indicator of how awesome Vail can be.  See you in 2008- It's always good to be a Lark Bunting...

  Vail 2006 Shootout Schedule/ Results :

The best way to describe this years 2006 Vail tournament is to just state Team 5280 11, Rack it Pocket 10!!!  This was the biggest upset of the tournament and the biggest win Team 5280/Tap Room has ever enjoyed in Vail.  Through the awesome effort of the entire team and the outstanding play of John Zulberti (A), Chris Bluse (G), and Jon Atwood (A) we beat over ranked #3 RIP!  Of course the team was on a high for the remainder of the tournament and our celebration definitely carried over into the evenings every night.  We played some other tough games but as usual it was 2 hours of lacrosse, 22 hours of shenanigans.  Hopefully this will help us into next years tournament with a higher ranking!  See you in 2007.  -Its always better to be a Lark Bunting...
