Our Mission:
Team 5280 is The Rocky Mountain post collegiate lacrosse team of the Rockies. As a lacrosse organization, Team 5280 recognizes and understands that we are ambassadors of the greatest sport ever played. As a team we are dedicated to promoting, growing and developing lacrosse at every level and the sportsmanship that is involved in healthy competition.
We are dedicated to showing the positive influence athletics can have on the youth of America. We focus on not only teaching the sport of lacrosse to our youth communities but we are dedicated to helping young America find a balance between school and sports. As Student / Athletes we want to help mentor the next generation in the benefits and life skills attained both on the field and in the classroom.
Team 5280 believes in fair play at all levels, from the youth leagues to professional lacrosse. We further believe that through sports we encourage the development and nurture the value of character through the test of the individual and the team. We believe that lacrosse encourages respect for self, respect for others, and respect for the game.
As a team we understand the importance of hard work, cooperation, team work and dedication. We fully support the idea of sportsmanship on and off the field. We continually strive to represent ourselves, our sport and the state of Colorado in the best possible way. To show our support we are involved in a number of post collegiate tournaments, free youth development programs, coaching at all levels, philanthropy and support of lacrosse around the country.
Although our team is Colorado based we have members on our roster who are coaching and playing all around the country. Our players have outstanding lacrosse experience and most come from some outstanding lacrosse institutions. Many of our players are native to Colorado but in the true sense of lacrosse sportsmanship we have extended positions to our East and West Coast Brethren who now consider Colorado their home.
Philanthropy:
Aside from our dedication to promoting lacrosse and all its benefits, we as an organization recognize the power in numbers. As representatives of our community we also have charities and non-profit organizations that we support and hold events for. A list of some of our charities include:
We also have an equipment donation committee that takes your old but usable lacrosse gear and equipment and we give it out to our more needy players. Even though there are some affordable ways to obtain lacrosse, there are a number of young athletes who cannot afford to pay the $195 for the basic gear package.
If you have sticks, helmets, gloves, pads, bags or goals that you do not use and you think would be a great "gift" to a needy player please contact us here and arrange a time and we will pick up your donation. Please remember to have your gear in good working condition and up to specifications by the US lacrosse board. Also if we are doing a pick up please clearly mark your donation and leave it on your front porch.
